By nature no one is able to hear, understand, or believe the things of God. “Why do ye not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word” (John 8:43). “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Cor. 2:14). “ . . . ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you” (John 10:25-26).
