Scripture
Study for the week of January 1st, 2006
For [1] it was instituted by Christ himself (Mt 26:26-28); [2] passed on by the apostles (I Cor 11:23); [3] practiced by the apostolic church (Acts 20:7); and [4] it is to be observed by believers until Christ returns (I Cor 11:24-25).
Further, the Lord’s Supper is to be observed for [1] it portrays belief in the death of Christ for one’s sins (Mat 26:27-38); [2] it stirs one’s sustenance in spiritual vibrancy to a focus upon Christ’s sacrifice (Jn 6:53-58) and [3] it motivates fellowship among participants to be in Christ’s redemptive work
