“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matthew 5:7) The merciful are those who are cognizant of God’s mercy to them. We see God’s mercy in that . . .
God’s mercy is sovereign; he has mercy upon whom he will have mercy (Ro 9:15).
God’s mercy is upon those he has chosen in his everlasting covenant (Hebrews 8:12).
God’s mercy gives his children salvation in regeneration (Titus 3:5).
God’s children overwhelmed with the lavishing of God’s mercy upon them have a caring attitude for those in misery. As the heavenly Father they take the heartaches of others and make them their own. God’s children shed mercy all when they put on mercy (Col 3:10-13).
