Scripture Study for the week of  May 1st, 2006

“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:10). Certainly joy abounds in good times, but here we have the profound promise of blessedness even in persecution. Blessings to be anticipated in difficult times include . . .

  1. Experiencing God’s presence, II Timothy 2:12
  2. Knowing our Father’s love, Romans 8:35-38
  3. Having strength by grace, II Corinthians 12:9-10
  4. Partaking of Christ’s sufferings, I Peter 4:12-13
  5. Basking in the Spirit’s glory, I Peter 2:14

God’s children are extremely blessed. When things are well, we rejoice in God’s mercy knowing that we do not deserve the bounty we are receiving. When we are in temptation we rejoice knowing that we are being brought to maturity and completeness, James 1:1-4
