Scripture Study for the week of  May 8th, 2006

"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you" (Mt 5:11-12. These words are directed to Christians and give us instructions that . . .

  1. We will not be exempted from reproach and persecution.
  2. The difficulty is directed towards us because of our faith.
  3. Blessings are promised if the malicious words and ill treatment are falsely incurred.
  4. We are the company of God's people of all ages.

In this difficult day may the Lord bless our heart with the truth of these verses. There are heavenly blessings even in conditions most adverse to Christianity.
