“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” (Matthew 5:13). Are Christians a blessing to society? If not, this passage says they are good for nothing.
More . . .
Mankind by nature is in ignorance, but God by grace applies gospel instruction to the minds of His people. His word bears witness to the hearts of the saints and then in the doctrine of Christ they believe and the ensuing godly lives they live society is seasoned and preserved. On the other hand if Christians drop the savory doctrines of the Gospel, or discontinue their obedient and exemplary lives; their usefulness is gone. May we in grace believed and lived be a blessing to society and a glory to the God who saved us.
