Scripture
Study for the week of June 20th, 2006
Though in prison at the time of writing the Book of Philippians, the Apostle Paul characterizes the Christian life as one of joy. He prays with joy (1:4), rejoices in Christ being preached (1:18), and notes the joy of faith (1:25). More . . .
He speaks of the full joy of being likeminded in love and accord (2:2) and he expounds upon the joy of sacrifice and service for others (2:17-18). Paul rejoices in the Lord specifically (3:1 and 4:4), the joy of the brethren (4:1), and the joy of having others who care so much for him. May we think upon that which is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of a good report for it will give us virtue (strength and courage) and a life filled with joyous praise of the Lord (4:8).
