Study for the week of September 11th, 2006
Through sacrifice for Christ Paul possessed joy in sincerity though among hypocrites, joy in sanctity though suffering difficulty, and joy in pursuing unity though among the divisive. His Savior was his example and strength. More . . .
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:5). Christ gave up His position in glory (2:5). On earth He borrowed a stable to be born in and a tomb to be buried in. Christ took up obedience in suffering (2:5-8). He assumed a servants role and death on the cross. Wherefore God highly exalted His Son (2:9). If we are not lifted up in joy perhaps we have not given up what we should and taken up what we ought.
