Joy in the Lord is worth repeating, “ . . . rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe” (Philippians 3:1). Joy in the Lord is a great safety net against error, so Paul did not weary of teaching joy, but neither did his listeners grow weary in the instruction. More . . .
In Philippians chapter three verse two Paul warns about three more joy stealers.
- Dogs (Ps 59:6-17) that bark and grumble at anything and everything.
- Evil workers (II Corinthians 4:2) who craftily and deceitfully gain a following.
- Mutilators (Galatians 5:3-4) who teach a Christ plus something else gospel.
“For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh” (Philippians 3:2). True spiritual worshippers do not resort to carnal means; they joy in the Lord Jesus Christ and trust in him.
no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s” (Philippians 20-21). Imagine what a blessing and joy homes, offices, and churches would be if selfishness was replaced with self sacrifice in service to others. Let it begin.
