Christian joy is not built upon one’s ego, his confidence in self, “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh” (Philip 3:3). More . . .
Paul noted “ . . . If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more” (Philip 3:4). He had a noble birth; he was orthodox in belief; and his conduct was scrupulous. Any item, though, maintained as a means to merit access to God is actually a deception. Our confidence before God must be based in Christ, “I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philip 3:7-8). Is your confidence before God based upon your knowledge of Jesus Christ?
