Scripture Study for the week of November 28th, 2006

In a society that generally looks for happiness in possessions, persons, places, or positions, the truth of this epistle is profound. Paul had learned by experience that joy is found in the knowledge and fellowship of his Lord (Please read Ph 4:8-13). More . . .

Paul’s life consisted of a joyful resting in God’s purposeful, protective, providential, sovereign care. It was not that his circumstances were optimal; it was that in all circumstances he was thankful. Notice blind little Fanny Crosby’s attitude at eight years of age:

Oh what a happy child I am,
Although I cannot see
I am resolved that in this world
Contented I will be!

How many blessings I enjoy
That other people don’t
So weep or sigh because I’m blind
I cannot nor I won’t
