Scripture
Study for the week of December 25th, 2006
GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The Lord said he would destroy man that he had created from the face of the earth for it repented him that he had made him. Noah, though, found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Gen 6:8). More . . .
Was it Noah’s exemplary life that prompted the Lord to be gracious to him? Hardly! After the flood Noah planted a vineyard, drank of the wine, and was drunk (Gen 9:20-21). Why was the Lord gracious to Noah? My friend because God had said he would not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake, though the imagination of man’s heart was evil from his youth (Gen 8:20). Remember, grace is the spontaneous, selective, unconditional, unevoked, love that the Infinite, Almighty, Benevolent, Sovereign, freely bestows upon entirely undeserving recipients.
